Stan is Founder of Gordian Capital Limited Cayman and of Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited where he currently serves as both Chairman and Executive Director.
Prior to establishing Gordian Capital, Stan founded Teneo Partners, the subsidiary of which, Teneo Partners Japan Limited, has since 2003, been Japan’s premier boutique placement agent of offshore funds and one of the very few independent, foreign owned securities distributors licensed by the Japan FSA as both a Type 1 and Type 2 Financial Instruments Business Operator.
Before forming Teneo Partners, Stan was President Asia/Japan for Investor Select Advisors Limited, a fund of hedge funds focusing on the Asian markets. Based in Tokyo, he guided the growth of the firm and raised the majority of the company’s AUM from financial institutions in Tokyo. Previously he was a member of the Tiedemann Investment Group, responsible for placing their funds with Japanese and Asian investors.
Stan began his career with Smith Barney Harris Upham & Co. where he was responsible for U.S. equity sales to Japanese institutional investors. From Smith Barney, he moved to Morgan Stanley where he managed the foreign equity sales team in Tokyo and headed the U.S. equity desk for Japanese institutions. Over the last twenty years, Stan has been involved in the hedge fund industry in Asia working with both single managers and fund of funds raising assets and servicing Asian institutional clients. He is active in the Alternative Investment Management Association (“AIMA”) where he is a member of the Executive Committee of AIMA Japan. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Tokyo and Singapore Chapters.
Stan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
He was born and raised in Japan, is a native speaker of Japanese and has over forty years of experience in dealing with Japanese and Asian investors.
Mark is Founder, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited.
Mark who has over 3 decades of experience in Asia was also a founder in 2003 of Teneo Partners Japan Limited, a Tokyo based, fully licensed securities company and Japan’s premier placement agent, prior to establishing Gordian Capital Singapore in 2005.
During his career, Mark has lived and worked in Melbourne, Zurich, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong and Singapore including 20 years in Tokyo and is a fluent Japanese speaker. His career primarily focused on managing sales teams specialising in Japanese, European, Asian and U.S. equities and Equity Linked products servicing a wide client base that included Japanese, Asian and Australian institutional investors and hedge funds based in Japan, Asia, the US and Europe and business development. Firms he has worked with include Baring Securities, Paribas, W.I. Carr, D.E. Shaw and KBC Securities Japan. At Gordian Capital, he has been involved in the structuring and launch of 38 funds (hedge, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and private credit) since 2005.
Mark is registered with the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Registered Representative, holds an authorised corporate representative licence under the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member of the Singapore Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) and serves on the International Advisory Board of the International Family Office Association (IFOA). Mark who was born in Melbourne and holds both Australian and Swiss citizenship studied Economics and Japanese at Monash University.
Paul is an Executive Director of Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited with particular oversight of all compliance, regulatory & risk matters.
Paul is a UK national. He has worked with a variety of premier investment firms during his career. For the past 20 years he has been Asia-based, living in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.
In 2004 he co-founded Creo Capital, a Singapore based alternative asset management firm, where he served as COO & CEO. Creo initially was set up to run a Pan-Asia Long-Short Equity fund, but subsequently moved into other areas of alternative investments. In 2012 Creo merged with another Singapore-based firm, Paul being a partner at the merged firm until early 2014. His main focus then was the merged firm’s German real estate activities, but he also generated real estate investment opportunities elsewhere in Europe, Asia, the US & Caribbean. In addition, he served as the firm’s CFO.
Prior to founding Creo, Paul worked for Lehman Brothers for over 12 years, including from 1996 to 2004 as Managing Director & Chief Administrative Officer, Asia. In that role, he was a member of Lehman’s 5 person Executive Committee for Asia and had direct management responsibility for all support & control functions, including regulatory & risk management functions. He also served on Lehman’s global Corporate Management Committee.
Paul started his career with the United Kingdom government, his final appointment being as a Private Secretary to the Secretary of the Cabinet. Immediately prior to joining Lehman Brothers, he worked on private equity, venture capital, real estate and other investment activities at Botts & Company Limited, a London-based boutique merchant bank affiliate of Allen & Company Inc., of New York.
Paul is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge and of the London Business School. He is a member of the Institute of Directors in both Singapore and the UK. He is accredited as a Commercial Mediator by the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Anil is an Executive Director and a Chief Portfolio Officer, Fund Solutions at Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited; he serves as Portfolio Manager, Member of the Investment Committee and on the Board of Directors to various Private Equity, Real Estate, Venture Capital and Private Debt Funds at Gordian.
Anil brings over 16 years’ investment management experience having worked on liquid strategies (Public-Listed Markets & Instruments – both on Long-Short and Long-biased mandates), as well as illiquid (Private Markets).
The majority of his experience was gained at Asset Management firm Daiwa Sumitomo Bank Investments and Hedge Fund Fundamental Capital; both as Portfolio Manager, responsible for security selection and portfolio construction for Asia/Asia Pacific Ex-Japan Equity mandates.
Anil started his career on the equity derivatives trading and structuring desk at the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) Treasury and Capital Markets division and subsequently worked for a boutique investment firm, Orion Capital, on private equity and mezzanine transactions as well as corporate restructure.
Anil has managed assets for institutions (sovereigns, pensions, corporates, and funds of funds) as well as multi-family offices. He has served on asset allocation committees responsible for decisions on country allocations, sector preferences and target cash holdings and is experienced in running active overlays in various asset classes as hedge to underlying equity portfolios.
Anil is a Registered Representative for the regulated activity of fund management with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and is a Member of the Singapore Institute of Directors. He has a post-graduate Master’s degree specialising in Economics and International Finance from King’s College University of London having received a Merit (top 5%) for the taught program and Distinction for his research dissertation. He graduated with Honors in Engineering from the University of Aberdeen for his undergraduate programme. Anil is a Singapore national.
